CLIENT: LG via Y&R

PRODUCTION CO: NORTH KINGDOM (STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN)

This project involved building a team of 27 people across five countries, and pushing Unity to lengths it hadn’t been pushed to before. We created a digital “puppet” which responded to text messages, news headlines, weather forecasts and was even responsible for a marriage proposal. The board was a finalist in the New York Festival Advertising Awards 2011.

My Role

As producer on this project, I was the key contact for the client but also super hands on: built the team, managed everything from budget to operating the digital puppet, and stayed up all night helping code JSON files when our developer was struck down with illness at the last minute. But this team was an absolute joy to work with and I dare say we are all friends to this day!

  • Scoping and budgeting

  • Building multidisciplinary team both internal and external, and across multiple countries

  • Ensuring all facets of the project were on track: technical integrations, design, animations, main Unity engine build, backend build

  • Central point of communication for all work strands and technical requirements and feedback

  • Main point of contact for agency client, billboard tech teams on the ground

  • Arranging travel and food as the team moved from Sweden to New York for the final push

  • Solving issues, procuring software, change management

  • Hands-on support, coding and operating the system at go-live on minimal sleep!

Many sleepless nights as we worked from a crowded hotel room (our server was in the bathroom with a “don’t use the water!!” sign on it)

We monitored the board via webcam, while we celebrated one of our developers’ birthday :) (The same developer who hid a lot of David Hasselhof photos in the files as motivation)
